Salary
McCoy Drilling and Completions designs, manufactures, services and sells drilling and completion equipment for the global energy industry. This division operates out of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; Broussard and Lafayette, Louisiana; and Houston, Texas. The Houston office includes the international sales and marketing team, an engineer design group and provides calibration services to many of McCoy’s Houston based customers.
We have an opening for a Design Engineer who will report to the Senior Project Engineer. The individual is responsible for project/development activities and complying with the quality system. The individual provides assistance to manufacturing/service division by delivering complete design solution packages for manufacturing and the end customer benefit by delivering a well planned and documented tool.
Responsibilities:
- Include management and leadership responsibilities for managers, supervisors and work team leaders.
- Identify tasks for this position
- Develop layouts, detail drawings and BOM for components for assemblies and tools (40%)
- Perform stress analysis using traditional and finite element analysis (FEA) methods to optimize design and specify materials properties or determine load limits of components and/or assemblies (20%)
- Provide support to manufacturing and service departments including production fixture/tooling design support as well as processing of NCR, REA and ECN (20%)
- Provided technical support to inside and outside sales personnel and the end customer
- Provide support for development of Technical Manuals for assigned projects (10%)
- Provide support to shop during testing and documenting as built configurations to update BOM (10%)
- Maintain assigned equipment and work area in accordance with procedures and standards
- React to change productively, work as member of team and handle other tasks as assigned
- 40-50 hours per week, mostly office environment with some shop floor support with minimal travel
- During absences, this person or position fills in for the Engineering Technician
Qualifications:
- 4 year degree preferably in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Technology (depending upon course work and area of concentration)
- AutoCAD, Solidworks (or other 3D modeling), MS Office, Word and Excel
- Practical knowledge of engineering technology as it applies to mechanical design and production of various goods
- Knowledge of design techniques and production of precision technical plans
- Use of engineering math to solve problems
- Good written and verbal communication skills
