McCoy Drilling and Completions designs, manufactures, services and sells drilling and completion equipment for the global energy industry. This division operates out of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; Broussard and Lafayette, Louisiana; and Houston, Texas. The Houston office includes the international sales and marketing team, an engineer design group and provides calibration services to many of McCoy’s Houston based customers.

We are currently recruiting a Mechanical Engineer (Finite Element Analyst) to work as part of the senior staff engaged in development and production activities related to new and existing equipment. 

This position requires the selected candidate to have excellent structural finite element analysis (FEA) skills that will be applied to the design, development and testing of oilfield machinery and related products.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform structural analyses utilizing classic hand calculation methods and finite element models developed using ANSYS or similar to verify product designs meet structural, thermal and performance requirements
  • Correlate analysis models and test results, update analysis models and provide assessment of design margins
  • Report status and results of analysis tasks at design and program reviews
  • Prepare technical reports documenting all analysis activities
  • Perform analysis on variety systems ranging from simple components to complex systems, with structural loads and potential for thermal effects and dynamics including vibration

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics or another directly related discipline. An advanced degree is desirable
  • 5+ years of engineering experience using ANSYS finite element analysis tools, or similar software 
  • Experience in generating finite element models, applying boundary conditions, performing linear, non-linear and dynamic structural analysis supporting design, interpretation of test result and post-process results as well as writing technical reports 
  • Must be flexible in handling multiple tasks, willing to work with cross functional teams including customers implementing creative ideas to develop new products and upgrade existing equipment. 
  • Must have excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills, strong mechanical background (hands on knowledge), strong work ethic and a high attention to detail. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel and Power Point), 3D CAD SolidWorks software or similar is expected.
  • Requires U.S. Citizenship, U.S. Permanent Residency or other status as a U.S. Person
  • Knowledge and experience with oilfield equipment is desired.
