Single-Joint Elevator (mSJE)

The McCoy Single-Joint Elevator (mSJE) is designed in accordance with API requirements for handling API 5CT-compliant casing and tubing.
It features a modular over-centre jaw design with interchangeable inserts to accommodate a range of tubular sizes and is intended for use with couplings or lift nubbins with square-shouldered profiles to lift and stab individual joints or stands. The mSJE works in tandem with the McCoy Link-Tilt System (LTS), which applies the load required to actuate the over-centre jaws when engaging or releasing the pipe.

The mSJE is a pneumatically controlled elevator equipped with integrated visual indicators that clearly display its operational status. Integrated sensors transmit a clear visual indication of latched or unlatched status to the Driller’s Display.

The spring-loaded jaws are secured by a pneumatically activated latch block, maintaining a firm grip even in the event of pressure loss and preventing accidental release. A secondary mechanical “Lock Block” engages automatically upon coupling contact, mechanically locking the jaws in the latched position during hoisting.

By eliminating manual intervention, the mSJE enhances rig-floor safety and ensures precise, repeatable tubular handling. When paired with the Link Tilt System (LTS), it provides a fully hands-free solution for efficient single-joint or stand handling during casing and tubing operations.
