Job Overview:
Under the moderate supervision of the Supply Chain Manager, the Strategic Procurement Specialist is responsible for identifying best cost sourcing opportunities, preparing on-line bid events, qualifying successful suppliers and coordinating changeovers to new suppliers with others in procurement. This position will be responsible for in depth analysis of Indirect Spend and pursuing opportunities for cost savings.  The Strategic Procurement Specialist will also implement sound purchasing policies, systems and procedures, while demonstrating the values of safety, teamwork, accountability, integrity and service.

What you’ll do:

  • Assess supplier capability, cost benefit analysis, issue resolution, risk mitigation and contingency planning.
  • Develop and maintain systems and processes necessary to maintain and drive supplier suggested cost reduction.
  • Review drawings and specifications with suppliers as necessary to initiate and develop through implementation of material containment and cost reduction opportunities.
  • Manage projects and procurement initiatives through completion with Department Stake Holders inside the estimated project schedule.

  • Assess and communicate technical risks, business requirements, deliverables and schedules supporting project initiatives.

  • Monthly Report detailing Internal/External non-conformances and vendor performance (includes helping initial setup of such report from CI database).
  • Responsible for PO priority follow-ups, sales department requests and internal expedite requests.
  • Oversees Tactical Vendor Account Management:
    • Ensures vendor cards are up to date with defined required documents
    • Vendors are operating from the latest and most up to date quality requirements
    • Monitoring McCoy owned Vendor stock
    • Tactical Execution of Vendor Agreements as defined by management.
  • Responsible for the procurement of material requisitioned for manufacturing, stock and other company operations, within allowed costs and schedules
  • Maintains current cost data on all purchased items
  • Prepares routine and special reports as required
  • Helps resolve chronic part/source delivery or quality problems by use of KPIs
  • Review all procurement activity to ensure that buying is constantly reappraised on a competitive basis
  • Maintain and follow purchasing procedures to conform to ISO standards. This includes thorough analysis of potential supplier and annual review of existing suppliers reviewing costs, quality, delivery and other pertinent factors.
  • Assumes leadership role in working with key internal company personnel to establish sound and effective purchasing strategies

  • Travel to customer sites globally for any installing, assembling, servicing, repairing, or tear down of company equipment and calibration jobs
  • Troubleshoot complex hydraulic systems, complex PLC operated equipment, and complex electronic systems
  • Interacting with customers and ensuring that their concerns are appropriately addressed in a professional and courteous manner
  • Diagnose and resolve product performance problems on-site
  • Escalate serious or multi-vendor issues when necessary to the Service Manager
  • Perform calibrations on most systems while recording and maintaining all calibration and service records
  • Comprehend instructions and ask questions to clarify discrepancies
  • Conduct pre-job Risk Assessments on all locations before carrying out any work.
  • Coordinate work scopes and arrange travel to customer sites.
  • Conduct product training to customers and ensure they are properly educated on all McCoy product
  • Upsell McCoy Global products while on customer sites

What you’ll bring:

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years related industry experience preferred
  • Previous drilling or field experience an asset
  • Previous technical or specialized training an asset
  • Comprehensive knowledge in mechanics and/or electronics

  • Check availability of items to be issued or shipped by checking inventory records or conducting a spot inventory of required items.
  • Communicate with the sales team about current stock and potential issues with orders
  • Periodic review and disposition of excess, surplus, obsolete and scrap inventory
  • Coordinate with sales, warehouse, logistics and operation teams to ensure timely delivery of all sales orders.
  • Keep back order file in established sequence and release back orders for issue or shipment as stock becomes available.
  • Audit processes along with paper flow errors to identify inconsistencies that affect inventory accuracy.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of experience with inventory control in a manufacturing setting
  • Detailed understanding of MRP and ERP systems a plus (Bonus if you know EPICOR!)
